towards heaven

the last individual
in the middle of the masses.
standing neither below
nor above them.
following his own path,
his own conviction,
neither man nor god can judge
the journey he has undertaken.

every action is a consequence
of his inner core.
willing to die,
if he had to live any other way.
is he still a man,
or has he become a god?

the masses are frightened.
“neither below nor above”
is what they’ve been told.
no sane person who believes this blatant lie.
it’s offensive to man and god.
but they keep on chanting it
while trying to drag him down
as he ascents to the heavens.

will he make it?
